    Note :
    • Subsequent to this notification, if any new college(s) or new course(s) or increase in number of seats in the existing courses is / are approved by Govt. of Puducherry and other Statutory Bodies for admission during the academic year 2014-2015, will be included in the CENTAC-PG, MCA & MBA.
    • Number of government quota seats and participating self financing colleges will be announced at the time of counseling after the receipt of necessary orders from Government of Puducherry.

  • Admission Procedure :

    • MCA :
      The selection of candidates for admission to MCA programme will be based on the Merit List in CET 2014 prepared by CENTAC-MCA. The number of seats under Puducherry quota is 23 and other states quota is 7.
    • M.Tech. :
      Out of the total sanctioned intake, 75% of the seats are reserved for candidates from U.T. of Puducherry and 25% of the seats reserved for candidates from other states / UTs, for the PG courses offered in Government / Government sponsored Colleges. Admission to M.Tech. programmes will be based only on the GATE score. If enough number of GATE qualified candidates are not available, the lapsed seats will be filled by the Non-GATE candidates based on the performance in an Entrance Test to be conducted by the CENTAC-PG. For self financing courses admission shall be based on merit in the Entrance Test conducted by CENTAC -PG.
    • M.Phil. and M.Sc. :
      Admission to M.Phil. and M.Sc. programmes will be made based on the performance in the Entrance Test to be conducted by the CENTAC-PG.
    • MBA :
      The selection of candidates for admission to MBA programme will be based on the Merit List in MBA-ET - 2014 prepared by CENTAC-MBA. The number of government quota seats in the private self financing colleges will be announced at the time of counselling as per the directions of Government of Puducherry. Only the Residents of Puducherry are eligible to apply for admission to MBA.

  • Entrance Test :

    The entrance test for PG programmes, CET-2014 and MBA-ET 2014 will be conducted only in Pondicherry Engineering College as scheduled bellow.
    For M.Tech., M.Phil. and M.Sc. 26th July 2014 (FN & AN) & 27th July 2014 (FN & AN).
    For MCA 27th July 2014 between 10:00 A.M. and 12:00 Noon.
    For MBA 2nd August 2014 between 10:00 P.M. and 12:00 Noon.

  • Application Procedure for Entrance Test and Admission :

    Application forms and Information Brochure can be obtained from Office of PEC Credit Society, Pondicherry Engineering College, Puducherry-605014, in person on all working days on or after 18th June 2014 on payment of Rs. 1030/- [Rs. 530/- for SC / ST candidates]. Application forms can also be obtained by post by sending a request to The Convenor, CENTAC-PG,MCA & MBA Pondicherry Engineering College, Puducherry - 605014, along with two self-addressed slips (neatly typed or hand written) and a crossed demand draft for Rs. 1065/- (Rs. 1000/- towards the cost of application and Rs. 65/- for postage) [Rs. 565/- for SC / ST Candidates. (Rs. 500/- towards the cost of application and Rs. 65/- for postage)], drawn in favour of The Convenor, CENTAC-PG, MCA & MBA payable at Puducherry. Payment by cheques, postal orders and money orders will not be accepted. Filled-in Application forms along with all necessary enclosures should be sent in the prescribed envelope to 'The Convenor, Centralised Admission Committee (CENTAC-PG MCA & MBA), Pondicherry Engineering College, Puducherry - 605 014, so as to reach latest by Monday, 14th July 2014 before 5.00 P.M. Application forms can also be downloaded and submitted along with crossed Demand Draft for Rs. 1000/- [Rs. 500/- for SC/ST candidates] drawn in favour of the Convenor, CENTAC-PG,MCA & MBA payable at Puducherry.

    • Admission to the Government Quota Seats in private and unaided professional colleges, including the minority colleges, will be as per the law / regulation / order of Government of India or Government of Puducherry on the subject.
    • Subsequent to the publication of admission notification for the academic year 2014-2015, if any new College(s), new course(s) or change in in-take in various existing course(s) is / are approved by the Government of Puducherry and other Statutory Bodies for admission during the academic year 2014-15 candidates who apply for admission to the PG programmes within the given time frame will be considered for admission to those college(s) / course(s) also.

    Note :
    • For all M.Tech., M.Sc., M.Phil., courses candidates belonging to SC & ST who have a mere pass in the qualifying examination are also eligible.
    • There is no age limit for M.Tech., M.Sc., & M.Phil courses.
    • Government quota seats in self–financing engineering colleges shall be filled by candidates from Puducherry U.T only.
  • Admission Procedure
    • Allocation of Seats :
      Out of the total sanctioned intake, 75% of the seats are reserved for candidates from U.T. of Puducherry and 25% of the seats reserved for candidates from other states/UTs, for the PG courses offered in Government / Government sponsored Colleges. The reservation ** in admission to various Post Graduate courses offered by the Colleges run by the Society and Unaided Private Professional Colleges are as follows :

    • Selection Procedure :
      • M.Tech. Courses
        • Puducherry State Candidates :
          Admission shall be based on GATE percentile. In case of a tie in the GATE score, the aggregate marks of the qualifying examination (3rd semester to 8th semester) will be the criteria for selection. Vacancies arising in seats allotted for GATE candidates will be filled up by the non GATE candidates of Puducherry/ failing which by GATE candidates from other states / UT’s , failing which by non Gate Candidates from other states / UT’s. The selection of Non GATE candidates will be based on the performance in an entrance examination to be conducted by the CENTAC-PG. The SC/ST vacancies of Puducherry quota will be filled by non GATE SC/ST candidates of Puducherry origin, failing which, by GATE SC /ST candidates from Other States / Union Territories.
        • Other State Candidates :
          Admission shall be based on GATE percentile. In case of a tie in the GATE score, the aggregate marks of the qualifying examination (3rd semester to 8 semester) will be the criteria for selection. Vacancies arising in seats allotted for GATE candidates from Other States / Union Territories will be filled up by non GATE candidates from Other states, failing which, by the GATE/non GATE candidates of Puducherry general, failing which, by sponsored candidates. The selection of non GATE candidates will be based on the performance in an entrance examination to be conducted by the CENTAC-PG. The SC/ST vacancies of Other States / Union Territories will be filled by SC/ST candidates of Puducherry origin with GATE score, failing which, by non GATE candidates.
        • Sponsored Candidates :
          Sponsored candidates shall be treated as non GATE candidates and (i) 40% weightage of marks for experience (at the rate of 4% for each completed year of experience excluding the first two years which is the minimum requirement, subject to a maximum of 40%) and (ii) 60% weightage of marks shall be given for the performance in entrance examination to be conducted by CENTAC-PG. The aggregate of marks obtained in (i) and (ii) shall be the criteria for selection. Sponsored candidates must have two years of full time work experience after obtaining minimum qualification for admission in a registered firm* / company* / Industry* / Educational and Research Institution / any Government Department / Government Autonomous Organisation, in the relevant field in which admission is sought.

          * The sponsoring firm / company / industry should be a member of CII / NSI / Builders Association. The candidate sponsored should be a confirmed employee.
        • Non GATE Candidates :
          The candidates under non-GATE and sponsored categories should obtain minimum percentile in the entrance examination as prescribed below :
          SC/ST candidates should have obtained at least 10% of maximum mark obtained in that discipline. The other candidates should have obtained at least 20% of maximum mark obtained in that discipline.
        • For self financing courses :
          Admission to self financing courses shall be based only on merit in the entrance examination conducted by CENTAC – PG.
          The candidates under non-GATE and sponsored categories should obtain minimum marks in the entrance examination as prescribed below :
          • SC/ST candidates should have obtained at least 10% of maximum marks obtained in that discipline.
          • The other candidates should have obtained at least 20% of maximum marks obtained in that discipline.
          In addition to the above conditions, sponsored candidates must have two years of full time work experience after obtaining minimum qualification for admission in a registered firm# / company# / Industry# / Educational and Research Institution / any Government Department / Government Autonomous Organisation, in the relevant field in which admission is sought.

          Vacancies arising in the seats allotted for sponsored category candidates will be filled up by respective Pondicherry and Other state category general candidates.
          A letter from the employer must be furnished stating that the candidate is being sponsored to get admission. The employers should also indicate that the candidate will not be withdrawn midway before the completion of course. The fee for the candidates should normally be borne by the sponsoring organisation wherever possible and the fees for the entire year should be paid in the beginning of the academic year.

          # The sponsoring firm / company / industry should be a member of CII / NSI / Builders Association. The candidate sponsored should be a confirmed employee.

          Stipend for M.Tech. Students :
          GATE qualified candidates admitted in M.Tech. will be paid stipend only after the receipt of funds from AICTE. Sponsored candidates will not be eligible to receive GATE stipend even if they are admitted with a GATE score card.
      • M.Sc. in Materials Science & Technology
        Selection is based on the performance of candidates in the entrance examination to be conducted by CENTAC–PG.
      • M.Phil. in Physics (Material Science)
        Selection is by an interview on the research area concerned. The weightage of mark distribution are 20% for UG degree, 40% for PG degree and 40% for personal interview.
  • Entrance Examination
    • Entrance Examination would be conducted only at Pondicherry Engineering College for the Non-Gate and Sponsored candidates for admission to M.Tech courses and M.Sc. course.
  • Pattern of Entrance Examination
    • The Entrance Examination is of two hours duration consisting of 90 objective type questions. Each PG Programme would have a separate question paper covering the portions learnt in the relative undergraduate discipline. Each correct answer carries 4 marks and wrong answers will have minus 1 mark (Negative mark). Candidates have to shade the answers in the coding sheets which will be supplied at the time of test along with question booklet.
  • Schedule of Entrance Examination
    • The Entrance Examination will be conducted only in Pondicherry Engineering College as per the following schedule.

      Note :
      • For each course, a separate application has to be submitted.
      • Applications which are incomplete, defective or received after the due date shall be rejected summarily and no correspondence shall be entertained in this regard.
      • Candidates selected for admission shall be intimated by post. No communication shall be sent to the applicants not selected for admission. No correspondence in this regard shall be entertained.
      • The selected candidates shall be required to submit all the documents in original at the time of counselling.
      • The original documents submitted shall be returned only after obtaining the recognition from the Pondicherry University. The candidates are advised to take enough number of photocopies of the documents before submitting the original documents.
      • Admission will not be granted to candidates who do not produce the original certificates at the time of counselling.
      • All admissions made are provisional and subject to the approval of Pondicherry University.
      • It shall be the responsibility of the candidate who applies for admission to study the Information and Instructions to the Candidates and ensure that he/ she is eligible for admission.
      • The admission of any candidate not possessing the required qualification, allotted either based on false certificates or by oversight shall be liable to be cancelled and the candidates shall have no cause for grievance.
  • Counselling for Admission
    • The admission is based on the merit, category of the candidates, and availability of vacancies at the time of counselling. All admissions made by CENTAC-PG are provisional and subject to the approval of Pondicherry University.

      Venue
      Counselling for PG programmes will be conducted at the Office of the CENTAC-PG, Pondicherry Engineering College, Pillaichavady, Puducherry - 605 014.

      Date and Time
      Candidates shall be called for counselling as per their merit. Candidates to be called for counselling shall be intimated through call letters or a public notification in newspapers and in the Pondicherry Engineering College web site (www.pec.edu). No change of date / time of counselling is allowed. CENTAC-PG will not be responsible for postal delay, if any, and non-delivery of counselling intimation whatever reason thereto.

      Candidates who do not attend the counselling in the specified date and time have to forego the claim for admission. However, due to unforeseen circumstances and unavoidable reasons, if a candidate is unable to attend the counselling on the indicated date and time, he / she can attend on a subsequent date and time during the counselling period with prior permission of The Convenor, CENTAC-PG. But, the candidate can only opt for the seat available at that time and cannot claim any seat as per his / her original rank. In any case, counselling will not be done in the absence of candidates.

      Unfilled seats and vacancies arising out of the dropouts of already admitted candidates will be filled up during the subsequent counsellings. Details of such vacancies will be notified on the notice board and will also be made available in the Pondicherry Engineering College web site (www.pec.edu) updated periodically. Individual intimation will not be sent to candidates for the Counselling for seats arising due to vacancies.

      No communication shall be sent to candidates who are not eligible to be called for counselling and no further correspondence in this regard shall be entertained.

      Verification of Original Certificates
      Candidates called for counselling shall be required to submit all the documents in original for verification at the time of counselling. Candidates, who fail to produce the required documents in original, shall not be counselled. However, if a candidate has deposited the original certificates to an institution where he / she has already been admitted, a letter to that effect issued by the Head of the institution should be produced. Only in that case, attested / true copy of certificates will be accepted for verification.

      The original documents submitted by the candidates to be admitted, shall be returned only after obtaining recognition from the respective Universities and hence the candidates are advised to take enough number of photocopies of the documents before submitting the originals for verification during counselling.

      Counselling Fees

Admission to the first year M.C.A. programme for Pondicherry Engineering College and Government quota seats in the Self-Financing Colleges in the Union Territory (UT) Puducherry is centralised and made by the Centralised Admission Committee (CENTAC-MCA), Government of Puducherry. Number of Government quota seats in participating Self-Financing Colleges will be announced at the time of counseling after the receipt of necessary orders from Government of Puducherry.

Admission to MCA programme is based on the candidates’ performance in the Common Entrance Test - 2014 (CET-2014) to be conducted by the CENTAC-MCA. The CET-2014 will be conducted by CENTAC-MCA on Sunday, 27th July 2014 between 10:00 A.M. and 12:00 Noon.

      Note :
      • Admission to the Government Quota Seats in private and unaided colleges, including the minority colleges offering MCA programme, will be as per the law / regulation / order of Government of India or Government of Puducherry on the subject.
      • Subsequent to the publication of admission notification for the academic year 2014-2015, if any new College(s), or change in in-take is / or approved by the Government of Puducherry and other Statutory Bodies for admission during the academic year 2014-15 candidates who appear in CET-2014 and apply for admission to the MCA programme within the time frame given will be considered for admission to those college(s) also.
  • Eligibility for Admission
    • As a pre-requisite to admission to MCA programme, candidates must have appeared in CET-2014. However, mere appearance in CET-2014 will not automatically qualify a candidate for admission to MCA programme and the candidate should fulfill the necessary admission requirements prescribed by appropriate authorities.

      Minimum Academic Qualification :
      Bachelor’s degree in Computer Applications / Computer Science/Information Technology or Bachelor’s degree in Commerce / Corporate Secretary-ship / Economics/ Business Administration with Mathematics / Business Mathematics / Statistics / Computer Applications as one of the subjects (or) Bachelor’s Degree in Science with Mathematics/Statistics as one of the subjects with a minimum of 50% marks (45% in case of candidates belonging to reserved category).

      Candidates who have passed qualifying examinations and who are awaiting results can apply. However, all candidates shall have to produce proof of passing the examination for selection at the time of counseling.

      Age Limit :
      There is no age limit prescribed for admission to MCA programme.

      Nationality :
      A Candidate seeking admission through CENTAC-MCA should be an Indian National. However, French Nationals residing in the Puducherry UT and covered by the terms of the Treaty of Cession shall be treated on par with Indian Nationals for the purpose of admission.

      Reservation :
      Reservation will be followed as per Government of UT of Puducherry orders in force from time to time.

      Puducherry UT Candidates :
      Candidates who are residents of UT of Puducherry are eligible for admission to MCA programme under Puducherry quota (23 seats) in Pondicherry Engineering College. A candidate is considered to be of Puducherry Resident (Puducherry UT Candidate) provided he / she is an Indian national and satisfies at least one of the following criteria.
      • Those candidates or whose parents have been residing continuously in the UT of Puducherry at least for 5 years immediately preceding the date of application.
      • Those who have passed the Degree examination and for that purpose had undergone academic studies continuously for 5 successive classes immediately preceding the qualifying examination (including the year of the qualifying examination) in recognised educational institution(s) located in UT of Puducherry and having their residence in UT of Puducherry for 5 years continuously during that period.
      • Children of Central Government servants / Defence Personnel / Central Paramilitary Forces / Employees of Public Sector Undertakings wholly or substantially run either by the Central Government or by the UT of Puducherry Government, posted and serving in the UT of Puducherry for at least a minimum period of one year prior to the stipulated last date of submission of application for the course.
      • Children of natives of the UT of Puducherry who have declared any place in the Puducherry UT as their home town and so certified by their respective Heads of Office. (Note : Nativity certificate in the prescribed format has to be enclosed along with the admission application for the course).
      • Children of Defence Personnel who were killed or disabled in action and children of Central Government Servants / UT of Puducherry Government Servants / Defence Personnel / Employees of Public Sector undertakings as referred in category (3) who have died while in service in UT of Puducherry.
      • French Nationals residing in UT of Puducherry and covered by the terms of the Treaty of Cession shall be treated on par with the candidates who produce the prescribed residence certificate for the UT of Puducherry. However such French Nationals will not be required to produce residence certificate, instead they should produce a certificate of registration issued for this purpose from the French Consulate at Puducherry. Note: Children of these French Nationals shall not be considered for admission under the quota of non-residents.

      Other State Candidates :
      Candidates from other states / UTs can seek admission only in Pondicherry Engineering College against Other States / UTs Quota (7 seats) and shall be made through merit list of Other States / UTs candidates in CET 2014.   • Selection Procedure for Admission
    • The selection of candidates for admission to MCA programme will be based on the Merit List in CET 2014 prepared by CENTAC-MCA.

      Ranking of Candidates
      Ranking of the candidates will be done based on the merit marks (rounded off to two decimal places) in CET 2014 obtained by them out of 360.

      Procedure for Breaking Tie in Merit Marks
      During the selection process if a tie in merit marks occurs, the aggregate percentage of marks in Part III of the qualifying examination shall be the basis for merit.

      Display of Merit List
      The Merit list will be displayed on the notice board of the office of CENTAC-MCA, Pondicherry Engineering College and the same will also be made available in the Pondicherry Engineering College website (www.pec.edu). No separate announcement will be made in the newspapers.
  • Counselling for Admission
    • The admission is based on the merit, category of the candidates, and availability of vacancies at the time of counselling. All admissions made by CENTAC-MCA are provisional and subject to the approval of Pondicherry University. The candidates who have been offered admission to a particular college should report to the college on or before the due date to be mentioned by the CENTAC-MCA in the provisional admission order, failing which they will forfeit the right of admission. At any time if the respective college authorities found that admission has been offered based on false, incorrect, relevant facts suppressed with regard to educational qualification or quota, the admission shall be liable to be cancelled and the candidates shall have no cause for grievance.

      Venue
      Counselling for MCA programme will be conducted at the Office of the CENTAC-MCA, Pondicherry Engineering College, Pillaichavady, Puducherry - 605 014.

      Date and Time
      Candidates shall be called for counselling as per their merits. Candidates to be called for counselling shall be intimated through call letters or a public notification in newspapers and in the Pondicherry Engineering College web site (www.pec.edu). No change of date / time of counselling is allowed. CENTAC-MCA will not be responsible for postal delay, if any, and non-delivery of counselling intimation whatever reason thereto.
      Candidates who do not attend the counselling in the specified date and time have to forego the claim for admission. However, due to unforeseen circumstances and unavoidable reasons, if a candidate is unable to attend the counselling on the indicated date and time, he / she can attend on a subsequent date and time during the counselling period with prior permission of The Convenor, CENTAC-MCA. But, the candidate can only opt for the seat available at that time and cannot claim any seat as per his / her original rank. In any case, counselling will not be done in the absence of candidates.
      Unfilled seats and vacancies arising out of the dropouts of already admitted candidates will be filled up during the subsequent counsellings. Details of such vacancies will be notified on the notice board and will also be made available in the Pondicherry Engineering College web site (www.pec.edu) updated periodically. Individual intimation will not be sent to candidates for the Counselling for seats arising due to vacancies due to the reasons mentioned above.
      No communication shall be sent to candidates who are not eligible for counselling and no further correspondence in this regard shall be entertained.

      Verification of Original Certificates
      Candidates called for counselling shall be required to submit all the documents in original for verification at the time of counselling. Candidates who fail to produce the required documents in original, shall not be counselled. However, if a candidate has deposited the original certificates to an institution where he / she has already been admitted, a letter to that effect issued by the Head of the institution should be produced. Only in that case, attested / true copy of certificates will be accepted for verification.
      The original documents submitted by the candidates to be admitted, shall be returned only after verifying with the respective Universities and hence the candidates are advised to take enough number of photocopies of the documents before submitting the originals for verification during counselling.

      Counselling Fees
      A counselling fee of Rs. 1100/- (Rs. 550/- for SC/ST) will be collected from each candidate.       Minimum percentile for merit-ranking
      Candidates should obtain minimum percentile in the entrance examination as prescribed below :
      SC/ST candidates should have obtained at least 10% of maximum mark obtained in the MBA ET-2014. The other candidates should have obtained at least 20% of maximum mark obtained in the MBA ET-2014.
  • MBA Entrance Test (MBA ET-2014)
    • The MBA ET–2014 will be conducted only in Pondicherry Engineering College on 2nd August 2014 (Saturday) from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 Noon.
      • Pattern of MBA ET–2014
        The MBA Entrance Test consists of 90 objective type questions. (15 English, 30 Logical reasoning, 30 mathematical aptitude and 15 general knowledge) There is negative marking, -1 mark for each wrong and multiple answers and +4 marks for every right answer, zero for not answering question.
      • Hall Tickets
        After the receipt of the filled in application, Hall ticket will be dispatched to the candidates. Candidates who haven’t received the hall ticket by 28.07.2014 are required to collect the Hall tickets in person on 30.07.2014 from the office of the PG Programme Cell (CBCS) (CENTAC–MBA). The candidates who submit their filled-in applications in person can receive their hall tickets immediately.
      • Results of MBA ET-2014
        The results of MBA ET–2014 are expected to be declared by the CONVENOR, MBA ET–2014 within a week after the conduct of the test. The results also would be made available in the web site: www.pec.edu.

      The original documents submitted by the candidates to be admitted, shall be returned only after obtaining recognition from the respective Universities and hence the candidates are advised to take enough number of photocopies of the documents before submitting the originals for verification during counselling.
  • Counselling Fees
    • A counselling fee of Rs.1100/- (Rs.550/- for SC/ST) will be collected from each candidate. Candidates will forfeit the counselling fee of Rs.1100/- (Rs.550/- for SC/ST candidates) only on selection of seat.

      The counselling fee should be in the form of ‘Demand Draft’ drawn in favour of “The Convenor, CENTAC-PG”, PAYABLE at Puducherry. Payment by cheques, postal orders, money orders and Cash will not be accepted. No candidate will be allowed to attend the counselling without the prescribed counselling fee.
